The 13th century is a one-hundred year period of time that spans the years 1200 to 1299. It is a part of the High Middle Ages. One of the historical highlights of this era include the Northern Crusades or Holy Crusades, a series of religiously-sanctioned military campaigns undertaken by the Catholic kings of Europe against the pagan peoples of Northern Europe throughout the 12th and 13th centuries.
