"The Atomic Captive" is the fifth episode of season six of the live-action superhero/action series The Adventures of Superman and the 96th episode of the series overall. It was directed by George Blair with a script written by Robert Leslie Bellem and Whitney Ellsworth. It first aired in syndication on March 3rd, 1958. In this episode, Superman tries to protect a foreign scientist who has defected from his country. Enemy agents attempt to recapture him, but the nuclear physicist has been exposed to deadly radiation and poses a threat to all - especially Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen.
