An Alligator is a crocodilian in the genus Alligator of the family Alligatoridae. The name alligator is an anglicized form of el lagarto the Spanish term for "lizard", the name by which early Spanish explorers and settlers in Florida called the alligator. On the FX Network television series American Horror Story, two poachers named Roy and Lee illegally hunted alligators in the swamps of New Orleans, Louisiana. After bringing their latest kill back to their camp, they encountered a strange woman named Misty Day. Misty Day was a witch with a particular affinity towards nature and animals. Disgusted by their actions, she used her magic to bring the carcasses of the slain gators back to life and had them kill Lee and Roy.
