Benny is a fictional drug addict featured on the FOX Network television series Gotham. Played by actor Kett Turton, he appeared in episode 1x05, "Viper".

Benny was a young homeless drug addict living on the streets of Gotham City. He made money by sitting on the steps of a building playing his guitar. A sign on top of his guitar case read, "No need to lie. Need money for drugs".

A strange man with a mangled ear named Stan Potolsky dropped a vial of green liquid into Benny's guitar case. This designer drug, known as Viper, had a label on its side that read, "Breathe Me". After taking just a single whiff of Viper, he grew inhumanly strong and suffered a psychotic break.

Benny entered a convenience store, and emptied a gallon of milk into his mouth without paying for it. The proprietor of the store yelled at him, to which Benny replied, "Do not vex me, mortal". The man came around the counter with a baseball bat, but Benny grabbed it from him and broke it in half. He then then ripped the store's ATM machine from the wall and made off with it down the street.

Detectives James Gordon and Harvey Bullock interviewed the store's cashier after the crime and tracked Benny down. As they tried to arrest him, Benny lifted the ATM machine up above his head. However, at this point, the drug's dangerous side effects kicked in, resulting in a drastic depletion of calcium and bone strength. His bones grew brittle and the sudden loss of his recently inherited strength caused him to collapse beneath the weight of the machine, which crushed him to death. [3]

  • The proprietor of the convenience store sarcastically called Benny "Zeus" after he spoke the line, "Do not vex me, mortal". This may have also been a nod to the character of Maxie Zeus, who is a villain featured in the Batman comic book series. It may also be a tongue-in-cheek reference to the fact that Kett Turton made a brief appearance in the 2012 film Wrath of the Titans.
