|First:||"By Any Other Name"|
Drea is a fictional humanoid alien featured in the Star Trek multimedia franchise. She made a single appearance in the original series in the season two episode, "By Any Other Name". She was played by actress Lezlie Dalton.
Drea was a member of an alien race known as the Kelvans. In her true form, she was actually an immense being with hundreds of tentacles. Drea was part of a conquering expedition led by Rojan that ended up stranded on an M-class planet in the Milky Way Galaxy. Drea and the others transposed their consciousness into human bodies then sent out a distress signal, which was answered by the USS Enterprise.
The Kelvans incapacitated the crew members of the Enterprise and then took control of the ship. Rojan had Drea secure the life support systems on the Enterprise. He then placed her at the helm, in place of Ensign Sulu, and had her fly the ship towards the Galactic Barrier. Ultimately, Captain Kirk was able to take advantage of the Kelvans' humanoid limitations and convinced them to return control of the ship to him.
