Batman is an American television series of the superhero fantasy and comedy genres. The show is based on the Batman comic book series published by DC Comics. It was produced by 20th Century Fox Television and William Dozier's Greenway Productions and aired for three seasons between 1966 and 1968. Season one of the series premiered on ABC on January 12th, 1966. The season consists of thirty-four episodes, which concluded on May 5th, 1966.
The regular cast for the series consists of Adam West in the dual role of Batman and Bruce Wayne and Burt Ward as his teenage sidekick Dick Grayson, aka Robin. The remaining billed cast members in this season include Alan Napier as faithful butler Alfred, Neil Hamilton as Commissioner Gordon, Stafford Repp as Chief O'Hara and Madge Blake as Aunt Harriet Cooper. In addition to the heroes and their supporting cast, the series also boasted Batman's infamous rogues gallery, which included familiar faces from the Batman comic series as well as new villains created specifically for the show. These include Cesar Romero as The Joker, Burgess Meredith as The Penguin. Julie Newmar as Catwoman, Frank Gorshin as The Riddler, George Sanders as Mister Freeze and David Wayne as The Mad Hatter. Unique villains on the series include Victor Buono as King Tut and Vincent Price as Egghead.

- Producer/series creator William Dozier was also the narrator on the series and supplied the "cliffhanger" voice-over at the end of each episode.
- The Moldavian Prime Minister is the first character featured on Batman. He is also the first character with speaking lines.
