A Gynoid is an artificial likeness of the feminine physique, usually taking the form of a robot or android. Gynoids may also be presented as dolls or mannequinns. The term is derived from the word android in response to its linguistically masculine lexical element andro-, which is perceived as implying a male-styled robot according to some cultural readings. Another term for a Gynoid is Fembot. Fembots served as a recurring antagonist on the original Bionic Woman television series.

Examples[]

Andromeda[]

There have been two gynoids who served as main characters on the science fiction television series Andromeda. The first was Rommie, played by Lexa Doig. Rommie was the avatar for the Systems Commonwealth starship Andromeda Ascendant. In the year CY 10087, engineer Seamus Harper created a robotic body to house Rommie's artificial intelligence. The body was designed in imitation of her holographic image. Another gynoid featured on the series was Doyle, played by Brandy Ledford. She too was created by Seamus Harper to assist and protect him in case he was ever stuck on some "hellhole".
