|Status:||Deceased by virtue of time era|
Mister Jarret is a fictional funeral director and a minor character featured in the original daytime Gothic soap opera television series Dark Shadows. Played by actor Bob Fitzsimmons, he appeared in episode 656 in 1968.
Mister Jarret was the manager of a funeral home in Collinsport, Maine. In 1968 he received notification from an unknown individual at Collinwood, stating that the family matriarch, Elizabeth Collins Stoddard had died and that the family would like to make arrangements.
Mister Jarret came to the great house at Collinwood and spoke with the family's maid, Mrs. Johnson. She brought him into the drawing room where he also spoke with Barnabas Collins. Both Barnabas and Mrs. Johnson were surprised by his arrival and assured him that nobody from the family proper called to make specific arrangements.
Notes & Trivia Edit
- The character of Jarret was created by director Henry Kaplan and writer Ron Sproat based on concepts originally developed by story writer Art Wallace and series creator Dan Curtis.
- Though Mister Jarret had no way of knowing this, Elizabeth Collins Stoddard was not actually dead, but had been placed in a supernaturally-induced sleep-like state that resembled death. The perpetrator of this act was the witch, Angélique, who had been a perpetual thorn in the collective side of the Collins family for several generations.
- During Mister Jarret's discussion with Barnabas Collins, actor Bob Fitzsimmons accidentally refers to him as Mister Jonathan. Jonathan Frid is the name of the actor who played Barnabas.
