Monk is an American crime drama/dramedy series that aired on the USA Network between 2002 and 2009. It ran for eight seasons and spanned 125 episodes, averaging 16 episodes per season. The series starred Tony Shalhoub as the titular Adrian Monk, a former police detective turned private investigator and consultant for the San Francisco Police Department. Tony Shalhoub was nominated for eight Emmy Awards for his portrayal of Adrian Monk between 2003 and 2010 and was the recipient of the Emmy in 2003, 2005 and 2006. The other stars on the series included Ted Levine as police captain Leland Stottlemeyer, Jason Gray-Stanford as Lieutenant Randy Disher, Bitty Schram as Sharona Fleming (seasons 1-3) and Traylor Howard as Natalie Teeger (seasons 4-8).
