The Mystic Falls Daily is a fictional newspaper featured in the CW Network television series The Vampire Diaries. The paper itself, and anything relating to it, including distribution boxes, etc., made sporadic appearances throughout the series, but was often used as a vehicle to help keep characters abreast of current events.
In the beginning of the pilot episode, Bonnie Bennett and Elena Gilbert pass a Mystic Falls Daily box on Laurel Avenue on their way to school. Mere seconds after passing it, they nearly get into an accident while trying to avoid a passing crow.
The Mystic Falls Daily broke the story of an alleged "animal attack", which claimed the lives of two motorists named Darren Malloy and Brooke Fenton. The story was also broadcast on WPKW-TV. Zach Salvatore read a copy of the paper detailing the animal attack and instantly knew that it was the work of a vampire. He questioned his "uncle" Stefan Salvatore about it, but Stefan denied having any involvement with the incident.
