A newspaper editor is someone who works for a newspaper publication as an editor. A senior position in this field is that of managing editor, in which the person in question orchestrates administers editorial authority over the content of publications in both print media, digital media and web-based media.
In the Superman multimedia franchise, the character of Perry White is the managing editor of the Daily Planet. He dictates orders to his top reporters, Clark Kent and Lois Lane, and even photographer Jimmy Olsen, who has perpetually irritates White by persistently calling him "Chief".
In the Merry Marvel Universe, we have the ever-irritable J. Jonah Jameson, who publishes the Manhattan-based news paper, the Daily Bugle. Jameson uses his paper as an editorial pulpit from which he decries the efforts of the city's infamous super-hero Spider-Man, whom Jonah personally feels is nothing more than a fame-seeking menace.
On Kolchak: The Night Stalker, Tony Vincenzo is a newspaper editor employed by Independent News Service out of Chicago, Illinois. He is the bellicose supervisor of sensationalist reporter Carl Kolchak and seems to be one of the only people willing to tolerate the investigator's maverick antics, despite their arguments. Vincenzo has a grudging respect for Kolchak's reporting skills, but often finds himself caught between Kolchak's zeal and his own management responsibilities. Vincenzo's hot temper often negatively impacts his blood pressure and digestion and he sometimes laments that he did not go into his family's Venetian blinds business.
