Phoenix was the primary setting of the 1976-1985 sitcom series Alice, which ran for nine seasons, totalling 202 episodes. The show centered on Alice Hyatt, who worked as a waitress with two other women at a greasy spoon restaurant called Mel's Diner, owned and operated by Mel Sharples.

The 1987 television movie Bates Motel was presumably based out of Phoenix, Arizona. Although the failed pilot movie is only loosely connected to the Psycho film franchise, it does use the titular setting of the Bates Motel, which was established as being located in Phoenix in the 1960 film Psycho.

The 2005-2011 paranormal crime drama series Medium also took place in Phoenix. It was the home of the Dubois family where noted psychic Allison Dubois frequently used her gifts to aid law enforcement officials in solving crimes. Allison lived in Phoenix with her husband Joe and her children Ariel, Bridgette and Marie.
