The Second Doctor, commonly referred to simply as "The Doctor", was the main character in the BBC television series Doctor Who. Played by British actor Patrick Troughton, this version of the perpetually regenerating Time Lord was introduced in an uncredited appearance in the final chapter of the 1966 serial "The Tenth Planet".
