Superman is an animated television series of the superhero fantasy and action genres. It is based on the popular DC Comics superhero, Superman, who was first created by writer Jerry Siegel and artist Joe Shuster in 1938. The cartoon series was produced by Ruby-Spears Productions and aired for a single season from September to December, 1988, totaling thirteen episodes.
Superman boasted a voice cast of eight regular actors including Beau Weaver in the role of Clark Kent, aka, Superman, Ginny McSwain as reporter Lois Lane, Michael Bell as the villainous Lex Luthor, Stanley Ralph Ross as Daily Planet editor Perry White, Lynne Marie Stewart as Jessica Morganberry, Mark L. Taylor as photographer Jimmy Olsen and filling in the roles of Clark's down home parents, Alan Oppenheimer and Tress MacNeille as Jonathan and Martha Kent, respectively.
