Text stalking is a form of psychological torture in which a person antagonizes another through the use of texting on their smart phones. This is an adjunct of cyber-stalking and may be construed as a criminal act based upon the method and intent of the individual sending the text.
Text stalking has been used at length on the MTV television series Scream. In addition to the traditional modus operandi of the Ghostface killer, who is known for harassing his potential victims via telephone calls with a disguised voice, the MTV series includes harassment via social media including video sharing services and text stalking.
