History[]
The Three Horseshoes was a small pub and the central social establishment of Letchmoor Heath in England. It was run by a barmaid named Abigail Willoughby and nearly every resident of the Heath would stop in from time to time for some beer and friendly conversation. Among some of the more notable patrons of the Three Horsehoes was Angus, an old blind man known for drinking too much and spouting off inane rhetoric; Reverend Goodbody, the town's spiritual leader who often had to help Angus to his seat after the former had too much to drink; Mister Oates, the town baker, and Constable Leary who was always ready with a toast.
In 1990, one of the Letchmoor Heath residents, a seamstress named Gertie, came into the Three Horseshoes bragging about the petrified remains of a bogman that she had found on her property. She telephoned her sister Elizabeth, who sent her son, mythology professor Ian Matheson and his colleague Randi Wallace to the Heath to check it out. Gertie brought the bog man to the Three Horseshoes where he immediately became something of a local oddity and favored spectacle.
Late the following evening, Abigail was cleaning up the bar after hours and was singing while the bog man remained inert on a table in the main drinking area. Suddenly, the formerly immobile man came to life and attacked Abigail, killing her. [1]
